The GMS PRIDE Committee is composed of ten designated eighth graders that make up the Executive Board, and any other student who has successfully completed a PRIDE application and demonstrates the character traits that PRIDE represents. The
Executive Board meets weekly at lunch to plan PRIDE initiatives for the school; the Full PRIDE Committee meets monthly to promote and carry out these initiatives. Some examples of PRIDE activities and responsibilities are: mentoring a new student, fund-raising by running the Lemonade Stand, promoting the “Angel Tree” project at Christmas and “Save Lids to Save Lives” breast cancer campaign, encouraging school spirit at sporting events, recognizing students’ birthdays, and providing service to the school in the form of recycling and other cleaning jobs. The committee is also responsible for promoting and judging various PRIDE contests held throughout the year.
